Visit Budapest

A neighbourhood guide for international visitors

A neighbourhood guide for international visitors

Fashion Week Hungary takes place in the heart of Budapest. Here is how to reach the city, where to base yourself, and where to eat and drink between the shows.

Getting there

Budapest Ferenc Liszt Airport (BUD)

The city's main international airport sits about 16 km south-east of the centre. Taxis and ride-share take 30–45 minutes; the 100E airport bus runs direct to Deák Ferenc tér in around 35 minutes.

Public transport

Budapest runs a single, simple ticketing system across metro, trams and buses. A 24-hour travel card or a weekly pass covers the whole network. The M1/M2/M3 metro lines and trams 4/6 along the Grand Boulevard are the fastest ways across the city.

  • Buy tickets in the BKK app or at metro-station machines.
  • Validate single tickets on board; travel cards activate on first use.
  • Taxis must use a meter; the official tariff is displayed on the door.

Where to stay

District V — Belváros

The business and cultural core, walking distance to the main venues, the Danube and the fashion district.

District VI — Terézváros

Elegant boutiques and cafés along Andrássy út; a quiet, design-led base close to the centre.

District VII — Erzsébetváros

The city's creative quarter: ruin bars, galleries and independent designers. Lively at night.

District IX — Ferencváros

A calmer, residential area near the Palace Quarter and the new cultural venues along the Danube.
